Activities and leisure near Les Voyelles
is centrally located and therefore a good base for sightseeing. Towns
like Bergerac, Perigueux, Sarlat, even St. Emillion and Bordeaux are an
easy one day visit.
The smaller Bastides (Fortified towns) like Beaumont, Monpazier and
Issigeac are definitly worth visiting. Do you like a nice glass of
wine? The wine area around Bergerac including Chateau du Tiregrand and
Chateau de Monbazillac are great for winetasting.
For the active amongst you there is hiking, cycling, mountain bike tours, canoeing, kayacking and golfcourses.
The Dordogne is the land of a thousand and one castles and that's
certainly true! Everywhere you look there are beautifull chateau's to
admire and visit. Chateau de Lanquais, Beync and les Milandes where
Josephine Baker lived with her children are open all year. Want to get
back to pre historic times? Then don't forget the caves of Lascaux
where you can see the cave paintings and archeological finds. Of course
every day in one of the towns is market day, where delicious local
products are on sale.
